This is an awesome project. You should totally check it out and pledge if you can!
The last song I sing
Will be the first song
Govern your thoughts
Lighten your step
For here we part
Govern your thoughts
Lighten your step
For here we part
Hollow is the reed
Deep is the well
The most beautiful woman
I’ve ever met
Has yet to exist
Sing Hallelujah

I’m using kickstarter.com to try to fund my CD! Please give it a look! Thanks!
The Un-Wedding Song was written in response to gay marriage.
I’m a lesbian and would like to get married at some point in the future.
But that’s not possible here in the state of Maine.
You can take the song in any way you like. I don’t necessarily write from a personal point of view but it is a political song in that it addresses not just gay marriage but those who never want to get married (gay or straight) and those who cannot get married for other reasons known only to them.
I would love it if people submitted pictures of themselves in formal clothing (either at a wedding or some other formal function) who cannot themselves get married. These pictures would be used for the picture/music video of the song. Thanks!

Un-Wedding Song by The Grrrl
Music & Lyrics April Louise McLucas
The river runs red
I’m part of the flood
Rushing over rocks
Down to the sea
Large streams
Find smaller ones
Through ruinous woods
The fallen trees
My bones won’t shake
With winter’s chill
No fire to warm
No wind to blow
This is the last word
Spoken
“Goodbye”
(Polly Jean won’t marry me/She’s buried
me under the juniper tree/the sky won’t
fall/the earth won’t crack/diving
waterfalls/won’t break my back)

I’m havin’ an un-wedding
And everyone’s invited
There’s PBR in the cooler
And a BBQ a roaring
A floor to ceiling cake
On my un-wedding day
They’ll be singing
They’ll be drinking
They’ll be dancing
On my un-wedding day
The preacher’s in
His Monday worst
The bridesmaids’
all in rags
It’s gonna be a party
On my un-wedding day
They’ll be singing
They’ll be drinking
They’ll be dancing
On my un-wedding day
Everyone’s a groom
Everyone’s a bride
If Lewis can have
A merry un-birthday
We can have our
Merry un-wedding
They’ll be singing
They’ll be drinking
They’ll be dancing
On my un-wedding day

i give thee this cup of ale
and prey you will remember
how well I served you all my days
when others had departed
long life, long days
great sorrow never follow
long time i’ve waited for
the day when we would part
i give thee this cup of ale
and hope you will be gentle
let not my wandering ways dissuade
the memory of my love
long life, long days
great sorrow never follow
long time i’ve waited for
the day when we would part
i give thee this cup of ale
when all else has been emptied
the sea still beckons me away
and I must head her call
long life, long days
great sorrow never follow
long time i’ve waited for
the day when we would part

‘Show A Leg’ by The Grrrl
Music & Lyrics by April Louise McLucas
I would sing to myself the whole of the day;
With a comb of pearl I would comb my hair;
And still as I comb I would sing and say,
“Who is it loves me? who loves not me?” — Lord Alfred Tennyson, The Mermaid
Come to girls
And show a leg
Your repose
Is at an end
Heave Ho
Away we go
Show a leg
And follow me
Up on deck
Hoist away
The old maid’s come
So show a leg
-April Louise McLucas
Your head’s not heavy, your conscience clear
Sins are all forgiven here, yours and mine” —“When I Am King” Great Big Sea
